Q: Has anyone else been prescribed Clomid and Femara?
This month my doc wants me to take Clomid and Femara. This is my 5th cycle of clomid and I will be getting a trigger shot and doing IUI. Last month I had a follicle check on CD 12 and I had two follicles but they were only size 10. I couldn’t find any info online about anyone taking Clomid and Femara just wondering if its something new that my doc is trying. He is always on top of the latest trends and procedures. Really … really hope this will be month.
A: I have never taken Femara, but I am currently taking clomid, and if my second round was not a success, than on my third and last cycle were going to start ultrasounds and possibly IUI..
Your doctor is going another direction with you, and he does sound like he knows what he is doing.
Good luck to you, and I hope we both get our BFP’S really soon!!!
please feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions about IUI or clomid.
Q: Femara and Infertility????
has anyone taken fermara and had any effect to yourself or birth defect for your child… My Dr suggested it, and I read online that it is Dangerous…. And I don’t want to risk that at all… Any Information will be greatly Appricated
A: i agree!! i found that it is for menopausal women with breast cancer?? what the heck?? i wouldn’t take it. did you see this website?

i would ask a fertility doctor or a ob/gyn. was he a family clinic doctor? I wouldn’t do it.
Q: BBT Charting???
I just read that a normal pre ovulatory temp range is from 97.0 to 97.5…my average pre ovulatory temp is from 97.5 to 98.2. Has anyone had this? I assume it may just be “normal” for me but I’m not sure. Also, I dont have an obvious thermal shift in my charts. It does jump up but it seems sporatic compared to other charts I’ve seen online. I was on femara so I dont know if that may have something to do with it or not. Any advice?
I do have a thermal shift upwards. It just seems like its all over the place to me. But my dr. says its fine. I’m prolly just looking way too deeply into it.
A: If you’re not seeing a clear and sustained thermal shift you may not be ovulating. It’s hard to speculate without seeing your charts.
If your pre-O temps varied from 97.5 to 98.2 and then had a clear higher shift, that would be normal for you.
I’d be happy to look at your charts if you post them.
Q: Do you refridgerate the Gonal-F pen?
I will be doing Femara + low dose gonal-f (37.5) in this next upcoming cycle. The nurse told me I don’t refridgerate the gonal-f only the Ovidrel (I have to take that to induce ovulation), but I’ve seen other things online that say you need to refridgerate gonal-f. Anyone know?? Thank you!
A: I was told to refridgerate it – it came to me shipped on ice from Village Pharmacy.
According to the Gonal F info it can be stored at room temp unopened for 3 months and then once it is opened it can be EITHER refridgerated or kept at room temp for 28 days.

Good luck and loads of baby dust!
Q: When do you start taking Metformin, During your first day of period?? or just anytime?
I have PCOS and my husband and i have been trying to concieve for a long time now, and my Gyno recently gave us Metformin and Femara, i only know that i am suppose to take Femara on the third day of my period, and i dont expect mother nature to hit me until sometime next week, and i was wondering if it’s okay to take Metformin while i wait for my period or During my first day of period or a week after my period, I have been seaching online but have not found any answers that resemble mine, also when did you start taking Metformin?? please help me out!! =)
A: I would talk to your docter about how and when you should start taking metformin if you arent sure
You start taking metformin in the morning the first day you bring it home and take it everyday sometimes twice a day depending on your dosage
I take 500mg a day one tablet in the morning, but I am increasing my dosage to 1,000 mg a day due to the reccomendation of my docter. witch is 2 tablets a day one in the morning and one at night there is no specific time to take it its not a fertility drug its a insulin sensitizing drug that helps your body with the insulin resistance and hormonal unbalaces that plegue us women with PCOS
Femera on the other hand is a fertility drug that you will need to take during your cycle I would strongly suggest that you talk to your OB/GYN about this
Best of Luck
Q: What’s your opinion….?
on Clomid purchased online? Has anyone tried this and did it work for you. I have tried so many natural remedies and been on Femera before. My specialist told me there was nothing else she could do and I woulkd never get PG. I want to try this but wanted some opinions. I have PCOS and a history of fibroids (removed and never came back) and mild endometriosis. My regular GYNO said Clomid would be the nex step after the Femara but then I jumped the gun and went to a specialist and he is no longer in my coverage. Please only serious answers; and no “go to the Dr”; this was what he wanted to do next but she only wanted to go straight to IVF; which we CANNOT afford.
A: I am surprised you did not start clomid first. I was on it with my first two pregnancies. Usually you take it for 3 months and go off for three months. Clomid on-line should be the same as from the pharmacy. The first problem here is a Dr. told you that you would never get PG, I hope you do not believe that.
I know you said you have tried natural remedies, but for how long? A friend of mine that has PCOS has been trying for 8 years and 3 IVFs latter and no kiddies. She just started taking MACA and has had her first natural cycle. She decided to take a break from all the chemicals and is doing much better. Some suggestions are: foot zones, acupuncture, hypnosis (http://www.biotherapy-clinic.com/custom_cd.html) Another friend of mine just conceived twins using a hypno. cd from him. Dealing with fertility is a emotional roller coaster, but when we figure out our bodies and what it is lacking pregnancy happens…
Best Wishes
Q: Progesterone levels during TTC/pregancy?
Usually my cycles are approx 31 days, but we tried Femara for IF for the first time this cycle, so I’m not sure how many days my cycle may have changed. I had my CD 22 blood work done on July 27th, or 1 week ago exactly. When I got the results, they were 22.6 ng/ml, which my RE said looked “beautiful”, so we’re on track. However, there is a strong possibility my husband and I had sex on my O day, but we aren’t sure because I stopped charting mid-cycle due to forgetting my BBT thermometer while on vacation. Today is CD 29 and still no AF. If we had sex on my O date, today is exactly 14 DPO, but it is quite possible I didn’t O on that date and O’d a few days later. I’ve taken two HPTs, and the first one was pretty much a BFN. Then I tested 2 days later and there was an EXTREMELEY faint line.
I know it’s ideal to take the CD 21-23 blood test 7 DPO, but I was wondering if anyone #1, could point me in the direction of finding normal progesterone levels throughout a TTC monthly cycle (by week if possible) online, or based on my levels, how can I find out what day might have been my O day…and #2, is it still too early to test?
A: First of all, a level of 22 is great for a medicated cycle. It confirms that you had a nice, healthy ovulation. That’s all it confirms. Your progesterone level can’t confirm the day you ovulated, nor can it confirm that you conceived.
Pre-ovulation your progesterone level should be less than 1. Post ovulation, it should be at least 10. Anything between 3-9 post-O means that some sort of ovulation took place, but not a healthy one.
If you are 11DPO today, then it would be early to test for most women. I would wait a couple of days before testing again. If you are 14DPO today, you should see a clear positive on an HPT.
Also bear in mind that with medicated cycles your LP is extended, so if you’re not pregnant it could take up until 18DPO before your period shows up.
Good luck.
